Citizen alerts

We are pleased to present our Municipal Emergency Preparedness Plan (MEPP). This plan is one of the decisions adopted by City Council to ensure that we are optimally prepared to deal with the various hazards that may arise in our community in order to protect our citizens in the event of a disaster.

This plan thus makes it possible to put in place alert and mobilization procedures and minimal means of assistance to protect the safety of people and property in the event of a disaster.

It is very important that our municipality be well prepared to respond quickly and effectively to mitigate the impact of the disaster on the community.

Preparing for an emergency

The Emergency Preparedness Guide, prepared by the federal government, details the steps Canadians need to take to be better prepared for emergencies. The Guide provides a sample emergency preparedness plan and a list of items to be included in an emergency kit.

The Guide identifies 3 steps to be prepared in the event of an emergency:

  • Step 1. Know the risks
  • Step 2. Make a plan
  • Step 3. Have an emergency kit

Having a 72-hour kit on hand is strongly recommended. This applies as much to your car as it does to your home.
